Uppppdate

I should really update this. My new website will launch by the end of the week, guaranteed. I just have one last little thing to finish up. Then you guys can see all sorts of new, but not very exciting, stuff.

But here's a question: if anyone reads this, what would you like to see? I'm always looking for things to draw. I drew a cross between Wolverine and Superman the other day ("Superine"), and he looked ... well, he looked terrible, as expected. That's how out-of-ideas I'm getting. I mean, I've been working on Beatrice Tumble but she's just not coming out so well. I baggied her pants a little which I think fixes some problems, but still... I don't know. I'm waiting for a big map I ordered from Amazon so I can plot out her journey and get working on really fleshing out the entire plot. Yes, I could do it on the computer but it's much less tactile.

So what should I draw?

Political Cartoon. And a beard.

So I'm pretty psyched about Barack Obama, could you tell?

This started as a bit less of a biased piece. It was always nicer to Obama, but it was originally just a commentary. It said "if all of these things haven't stopped him, what is name-calling going to do?" But then, when I heard the media use "the Obama Momentum Machine," I just had to turn it into some big weird sci-fi thing. That's much more my style, really. Though I did try to make it still look, generally, like the political cartoons I see. I'm not good with brushes (and all I had was a brush pen anyway) but I feel like this was a valiant attempt. Also, I regret using computer lettering for the dialogue and subtitle, but it turns out I'm really not a letterer. The bombs labels turned out alright, but the other stuff was pure rubbish.

Also, I really want a beard. Like, I really wish I could grow a beard. If I did, one day, this is what I would say:

New Art

So, I've got some new art. A bunch is posted over at my Amazing Science blog, but I have some more random stuff I have to post here. I'm currently working on some stuff to put together with Exzo Design Studio, which is a little studio conceived by Kelli Lee, with whom I graduated from SCAD. Trip Wynn (linked over there on the right) is also involved with Exzo. But anyway here are a few sketches I've done during slow days at the bank.

I wanted to draw a badass assassin chick? I think this will look much more interesting when it's colored. And I really don't like this guy's face. But otherwise, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Oh, except maybe I wish she looked less like she were touching her breasts, and more like her hand was still in place from snapping this guy's neck.

Explorers are cool? This one might be mexican. His left (our right) arm is wicked awkwardly posed, but it was just a little sketch. I have actually subconsciously turned it into several other drawings since then.

Iron Man's coming out soon. That'll be fun. Turns out I have no idea what Iron Man really looks like, aside from his face maybe.

I read the Tale of Despereaux, a children's book about a mouse who saves the day in some medieval castle. It was nice. And then I saw a lady who really looked like she might have been a rat who figured out how to become a human. So then I wanted to draw a rat. I think that this rat looks a little like I picture Roscuro, the rat from the book I mentioned.

My friend Stephen (also linked over to the right) wanted me to draw him a picture for his FaceSpace (MyFace?) profile. I drew two, and I liked the second better. The second is next. I like this one, but as a rule, I am not a big fan of large wet phalluses. Phalli? us, i, o, um, o...

This is Stephen, exploring a cave, with a poorly drawn pistol. I fixed the shadows on the face because they were seriously effed. They're a little better now, is all.

AMAZING SCIENCE!

AMAZING SCIENCE! the Travels of Beatrice Tumble
This is my latest project, and I am totally psyched about it.

I don't know if I told you, but I love adventures. And the 40's. And monsters, dinosaurs, robots, and all sorts of contraptions.

So with that in mind, I am setting about to create some sort of series. I don't know yet whether I want to try to animate this, or just do some sort of serial webcomic. Were it in web form, you can rest assured that it would be formatted like a paper comic book, and probably it would be released in issues.

It is called "Amazing Science! the travels of Beatrice Tumble." I like exclamation points, and science.

Pretty much, it's Indiana Jones meets (and I suppose merges with) Nikola Tesla but then becomes a lady and fights monsters and things?

Now, I know that's a lot of talk. That's why I'm not going to show you my drawin's or anything just yet. But I been doin' a lot of them, and they're getting better. Some of them are in fact my favorite sketches of mine ever. And the monsters are wicked awesome.

I hope that I will have more soon. I hope somebody is as excited as me.

Fat Run Cycle

I have been recently obsessed with drawing morbidly obese people. Cartoony ones, though. I drew myself as such, and then again, more easily, and now have friends asking me to draw them in a similar manner, a task which I am currently undertaking. This, however, is the first animation I have made in some months now, and so I thought it worth showing here. It was completed in a couple of nights by creating an understructure of the different masses (pelvis, gut, breasts, head, arms, legs), each moving at an offset pace to create the effect of secondary motion, and then traced over on a new layer a s one solid image per frame but for the hair, which was added last on its own frame. It was made, of course, in Adobe Flash. I hope it is entertaining.

An Update?

So, I think I should update this. I'm thinking of posting art, sketches, etc on here, but for now that's all on my newly refurbished website, which features my portfolio (including sketches, illustrations, animations and more!), resume, demo reels, and links to my other projects.

Speaking of other projects, if anyone uses Google Reader or some other RSS feed reader, I've just made a feed for my webcomic, Confused. Sure, I don't update it often, and it's already got its own LJ (http://confused-comic.livejournal.com) which technically has a feed, but this is one that I made from scratch, just to see if I could. Since I've gotten rid of the newspost section of Confused, it just shows images and titles. But it's pretty cool.

I have a new installment of Confused in production, as well, but it'll have to wait til I'm back from the west coast. I'm in Denver right now visiting a friend, and preparing to head to San Diego for SIGGRAPH next week. That ought to be interesting.

That pretty much does it, I guess. Have a good day!

Blog too, huh?

So now I have a blog, too. I have a lot of these things. I think maybe I'll use this for art? But maybe not, because I have a real website.
